Momo said...

Hello Momo,
Lilian asks you, when you will have a few time, to go on her blog to say "hi" to her.

Momo said...

Thank you, Krn :-)

krn said...

Hey Momo, the sun shines !

Momo said...

Yes, Krn, the sun shine, and I'll go to the swim into the cold water now.

I discovered the benefits of the winter baths in the lake, without chlorine.

Today the water is at 13 degrees, but the sun shines.

Lilian said...

Hello everybody!
Thanks so much KRN for explaining my words [above] to Momo. The same large and orange moon you saw a couple of nights ago, it was also brightening my night around here. It was amazingly beautiful.

Dear Momo, I don't understand how you can enjoy getting into a lake when the temperature is rather cold(?) You are a brave man :)
Also, thanks so much for the great comment you left in my blog last time.

Un saludo afectuoso :)

krn said...

Momo, 13° is a very cold water for the human body.
Are you still alive ?

krn said...

Hello Lilian,
We wrote our comments together...

Lilian said...

Yes, we did. I noticed! :D
We also noticed the same large and orange moon... The world is not as large as it seems sometimes.
Amicalement :)

krn said...

I think the world is very tiny, too.

Momo is a brave man... There's no way I'd be swimming in water that chilly. I could feel my muscles contracting as I was reading!

Lilian, I forgot to answer your post a few days ago. I don't know how I could have missed the moon on Tuesday... I was at a concert and was driven back from Edmonton. The moon must have been up there... but I did not really notice it.

Have a good weekend, all!

krn said...

Clouds, Doréus, clouds hid the moon. They were all in Edmonton for the "festival" ...

Momo said...

Krn, Lilian and Doreus,

Yes, the lake was cold today, nevertheless I swam into the water three times (no more one minute each time).

I hope that I will can continue, because
the cold bath give me a lot force and peace (it give me the force for stand the eye disorder, and the emotional consequences).

The water can down until 6 degrees during the winter but, sincerely, I don't know if I will can do it.

krn said...

Momo,
I bathed in sea water at 6 ° when I was 18 years old. It was in the point of Raz, in Brittany, for Christmas.

I was with a friend of the age of my father and in a short time, our muscles stiffened, preventing us from continuing to swim.

Carefully, we had stayed enough near the edge and we were able to get back to the bank.

I was young and very sports and my friend was born near that place and nevertheless, we took time to recover our breath and a normal heart rhythm.

Gla gla!

Sorry... it came out in French! I could not help it! I just can't imagine swimming in that cold a water... except maybe if there's a sauna following it!

Lilian said...

Doreus-
What does "gla gla" mean?
Have a good week everybody :)

Anonymous said...

"Gla gla" is an onomatopeia in French for saying something akin to "Brrrr"! It mimicks the sound made by the chattering of the teeth.

Momo said...

Doreus, I like very much your definition of "Gla gla", it's very funny :-)

Krn, yes I know, I think that the practice is very important for the winter's baths.

Here, there are "La course de Noël", in decembre, and the competitors are differents ages, especially old people.

Yes, I noticed that the old people love very much the winter's baths, I see clearly they very good health.

So gla gla and brrrrr in perspective.

Lilian said...

Doreus-
Thanks for the explanation of "gla gla"... Who would have thought!? but it makes a lot of sense, more so than "brrr" :)

Momo-
yes... gla gla and brrr... is also cold here for the first time. I'd never ever swim in cold water during this time of the year unless I wanted to commit suicide :)

Anonymous said...

Just so you all know... we have started to see water freezing around here. Yes. Already. Gla gla! So, soon it will be impossible to swim without bringing along an ice pick to get to the water! Skating season will be upon us... yippee!

Lilian said...

LOL :D... it's a very funny picture what you present Doreus... swiming with an ice pick. Do you skate? That's fantastic!I don't :-(

Momo said...

You are right, Lilian, this picture "swiming with an ice pick" is funny.

Do you skate, Doreus ?

Momo said...

Lilian, the persons wich practice the winter bath seems love the life, to be more specific they seems to be in better health than everyone.

But it must do it in an intelligent way, the problem is that I didn't find a lot literature about this practice, even into the web.

I'm afraid that it's a very elitist practice.

Lilian said...

In a trip to Baden Baden in the Black Forest, it was March and it was still cold and there was snow on the ground, I saw that people would go from the sauna to outdoor swiming pools in the middle of the snow. They told me that the contrast was very good for the body however, I know that it may be very dangerous for the heart. I would not do it because I believe in everything in moderation and shocking the body does not sound healthy.

Here is the few and rare information that I found about the cold bathings :

In any case, Lilian, you are right, because we must hear our body in all circumstance.

Momo said...

About the Sauna, I went to the Sauna last week, and I had a heart discomfort (in the hot room).

krn said...

Momo, Lilian, sometimes, our body misleads us. He warns us of a danger which does not exist and plays dead when it would be necessary to be on the alert.

krn said...

I absolutely don't bear the heat of the sauna.

Momo said...

You are absolutly right, krn, for exemple the panic attack warns us of a danger which does not exist.

Momo said...

Because of the sauna, I feel not good now, my hearth doesn't work as usual. Haaargh !!!!

:-) I joke, but I think that we have hear our body in all circumstances.

krn said...

And nevertheless, you know that during certain circumstances, it exaggerates.
But is better an excess of caution than an accident.

Momo said...

When I did the long fasts, I read some manuals about this practice, but I don't remember to have read something about the muscle loss, until I notice it through an accident. Sometimes the caution isn't enough. Today I keep the mark of this accident, I've often lumbago.

I've the failing to be a little excessive in everything I undertake.

krn said...

It is normal, you are used to extêmes sensations.

Momo said...

What do you mean, krn ?

Anonymous said...

[Answering the question from waaaaaay up there:] Yes, I skate. My home town had the second longest skating rink in Canada (6 km) when I was young. And then I moved to the city with the longest skating rink in the world (Ottawa, 8,8 km). I enjoy skating very much, although I haven't done it in a while... I was spoiled with these long rinks... and just cannot bring myself to go around in circles on small park rinks. Apparently, Red Deer has a nice rink on a pond; I'll have to discover it this winter.

And Momo, I think we all have realised that you like extremes. We like you that way; don't worry. You seem to be very intense in everything you do, and that is just what makes you unique.

Momo said...

Hum... really ? Hum... it's true that my sister say alway the same thing about me, I make always the things in eccessive way, and she don't like that.

But I think the sport is a good help for fight against every kind of emotional stress.

krn said...

Momo,
Doréus is right, but I shall add that it is certainly this custom to make everything with intensity which is the cause of the attacks of panic of which we are the victims.

We feel everything in a extreme way. The fear, yes, but also the other feelings. The senses are not saved.
The sight is an important sense. The slightest obstacle makes us be unconsciously afraid of a loss of this intensity and activates an alert.

Momo said...

Hum... you have an interesting opinion, Krn. Maybe I should be more indulgent with myself.

Lilian said...

I totally envy Doreus and his ability to skate. I think I will never be able to do it; I am a "chicken" when it comes to the idea of balancing my body on two sharp knives attached to my feet on a sheet of ice. On the other hand, I grew up at the beach, so I have a good excuse. I'd love to learn how to do it.

Anonymous said...

Lilian, we should meet in Ottawa and I would teach you. It sounds frightening at first, but it really is fun once you master the art of indeed standing on two knives! The thrill of speed is just wonderful. And on the Rideau Canal, one of the delights is to stop for hot chocolate and "beavertails" (a really really sweet pastry). Alternately, you could come to Red Deer and learn to skate on Bower Ponds.

Anonymous said...

And Momo, I think KRN may be right about the impact of visual impairment on panic attacks... and this being related to the intensity of feeling. However, it is not a defect; it is something that makes you different and you should not be ashamed of it.

Momo said...

Doreus, you are so cute, you use very well your words, and I like very much the mix between the art of indeed standing on two knives, the thrill of speed, the hot chocolate and the sweet pastry. I'm sure that Lilian will love it very much. What a poetry.

Momo said...

Doreus, the impact of visual impairment on panic attacks is certified. Sometimes, the intensity of sentiment is very heavy to bring. Above all for to reconcile intensity of sentiment, visual impairment and the panic attack together.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the compliments, Momo. I was wondering, do you skate? I know Switzerland is better known for skiing, but there must be skating too!

Momo said...

Unfortunately not, Doreus, I doesn't skate (but sometimes I dream that I'm in process of skate). I like very much skiing, but this is a very expensive sport. I like the fast and the goulash soup between two downhill. The best is the sauna at the end of the day and a good hot meal.

Lilian said...

Momo--
I miss you. I hope your studies are going well.
Warm Regards

Momo said...

Lilian, I miss you too.

Yes, my studies are going well, I've a lot work and a lot search to do, and it's only the start.

Briefly, my head is elsewhere, but I think at you.

A big kiss.
