Winter Bathing

Water was at 3,5 degrées today. I have to admit that it was rather invigorating. So, to talk clear, I have to quote Doreus : Glaglagla.

Invigorating would be an understatement (euphémisme)!

Do you bring a themometer with you to check the water temperature?

Gla! Gla! Gla! Gla! Gla!

Momo said...

No, I don't. The temperature is displayed when I go take the changing-room's key.

There is a thermometer on place.

OMG (Oh my God!) They are well equipped!

I don't know if I have told you that before, but I am really glad that you have found an activity that gives you so much joy and energy. I don't want to bring back bad memories, but the end of this year seems quite different from the end of the last (at least from your blog posts).

When you feel down in the dumps (sad), just think back on the joys of winter bathing!

Related to this: Go check this cartoon out! When I saw it, I thought of you.

Doreus,

Surely that the baths giving me a lot force, but there are others kind of things which also give me live force. Basically, the sport help a lot. At the same time this is the first time that I treat my post traumatic problems. Little by little, the sadness and the nightmares are in process of vanishing, this isn't completely resolved, but I see that I make some progress.

Coool, the cartoon !

But when we go out of cold water, the skin is rather red than blue. I saw some persons with the skin completely red when they go out from the extremely cold water's lake.

It's a kind of sunburn.

It is practical, indeed. I used a thermometer of aquarium.

I find distressing meteorological forecast at the moment.
My thermometer shows -8 outside, now, on the card of the newspaper, I see -2
I don't go out this evening, it is too much cold. This afternoon, I needed 1 good hour to put the key in the lock of my car.

It is normal that the body mobilizes the heat on the skin when it is assaulted by the cold. When the skin turns blue, it is rather a sign of bad circulation.

krn said...

The water is very clear.

Momo, I know, but for cartoons, they prefer blue... more evocative of the cold, I suppose (you would know; you're the artist!).

Your approach to PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is really Hippocratic in spirit: it is a regimen in the truest sense, implying a readjustment of your mind and body through exercise, diet, and social interaction. I can only congratulate you.

*Hug*

Momo said...

thank you, Doreus, yes, you are right, the red is more evocative (you made me laugh).

Yes, I don't trust the doctors, even if, on the other hand, the scientific medecine nous a sorti de pratiques telles que la consommation soi disant thérapeutiques de morceaux de momies pharaoniques (mode thérapeutique qui a sévi je ne sais plus quand en Europe).

Momo said...

You have an aquarium, Krn ?

One hour for put the key in the lock ?

You are funny !

Momo said...

No, krn, actually, the water was less clair than other days.

krn said...

Momo, you laugh at me! The remote control which opens the car does not work any more and I am obliged to put the key in the lock to open.

But the lock was full of ice and I put fingers to warm it, but my fingers froze and the ice was always there.

I have no aquarium, that thermometer was to watch the temperature of a "incubator" for a baby bat.

Oh! I should send you one of our de-icer gizmos. It's a little apparatus about the size of a cigarette lighter that has a heated rod protruding to insert in the keyhole... just for that purpose. There are also de-icing liquids specially for key locks.

Is the remote no longer working because its battery is dead?

My bacon-crazy friends are having just too much fun. Click here (sorry, Momo, I could not resist).

Here's the original site and instructions to baconise any website.

krn said...

What a horror! This piece of bacon is enormous!

Anonymous said...

Some people would call it appetizing...

krn said...

I should have prefer it smaller, with eggs.

Momo said...

Is it a piece of mummy ?

Hum.... very clever the key from the frozen North.

The other link doesn't worked.

Momo said...

Incredible ! During some seconds the piece of bacon remained on my screen's blog.

Anonymous said...

It is very resistant bacon... Possibly a bit big when not accompanied by eggs.

Anonymous said...

I tried the links and they work on my computer... Which one did not work?

Momo said...

In fact, that's work, but this link "de-icing liquids" ouvre sur une page de "© La Société Canadian Tire". C'est voulu ?

krn said...

I also have the link "de-icing liquids" Whiche opens a page of "Canadian Tire"

Momo said...

Krn, you are still awake ?

Anonymous said...

Yes, the link should open a page at Canadian Tire... representing de-icing liquid. I guess it works with cookies and somehow did not get transferred into the code. Try this instead. Not quite the same product, but same idea.

krn said...

Doréus, the remote no longer works because the card which is inside the car is dead.
It looks like if the five doors live theri life on their own. One is locked and the others are opened, or the right side opens and the left one stay locked.
I never know exactly what will happen.
But the dealer Ford takes me for an extraterrestrial who disorders all electronics that I approach .

My car is the only one Ford Galaxy from whom the boitier of starting up is protected by one limp lead. Otherwise, I do not start it.

krn said...

Yes, Momo, Should I sleep ?
what time is it ?

Momo said...

The cars are another world for me.

It's only 4:20 am.

Momo said...

I prefer the bicycles

Momo said...

Yes, I love bicycles

krn said...

You are right, the bicycle is always friendly, but you should not need to go far.
I drive 60 km a day only to work, in bicycle, it would be impossible.

Momo said...

Yes, I love really very much bicycles

krn said...

Your bicycles are very beautiful.
Thank you to share them with us.

Momo said...

Momo said...

Isn't it ?

krn said...

krn said...

The girl has a charming smile.

Momo said...

Momo said...

Momo said...

krn said...

I think that you like very much black and white pictures.

Momo said...

krn said...

Thank you, momo, it is exactly the one I could dream.

krn said...

I am going to go (in feet) to my room. I believe chat it is the hour to sleep. You are not tired?

Momo said...

Ok, I will sleep and dream me too with a lot bicycles.

Good night, krn.

:-)

Momo said...

Oui, je tombe de sommeil !

krn said...

pas moi, mais je ne m'écoute pas, je DOIS absolument dormir.
Tout à l'heure, à 9 heures, je me lève.

krn said...

Good night Momo.
:-)

That's going to be one short night... I'm still up, but it is still more reasonable; it's 21:38 here!

Loved the bicycles. They generally don't need de-icers. However, in Canadian winters, they are not the best means of getting from point A to point B, unless it is really close and one has studded tires.

Good night!

krn said...

I think that on the ice, the straight line beetween A and B is the road the most difficult to ride for a cycle.

Good night.
